Planning Minister, Richard Wynn, recently ‘called in’ Heritage Victoria’s application to incorporate new heritage structures within the Victorian Heritage Register. This means that the Minister will now make this decision, not Heritage Victoria.
Heritage Victoria had proposed a public consultation period between 4 September to 3 November 2019. This will no longer go ahead.
It is unlikely that there will be any opportunity for submissions to be made through any formal process as there is no requirement for the Minister to receive submissions on the matter. The Minister will now receive a report from the Heritage Council on the recommendation and then make a decision. There is no timeline for this decision however it is likely to be imminent.
